    I need advice...

    I have a nice, original 1993 Thundercat.
I want to replace the "sandpaper" grip material on the running boards, without loosing the running board paint.

Is there a release agent, like "goo gone" that will penetrate the surface and lift the adhesive without eating up the paint?

Or, dare I scrape off the decal with a razor blade, and then remove the adhesive?
