I'd just have the tunnel replaced and change out the brake system with new. Unless you are in the market for a new sled?

Hi I maybe buying a 97 ZL440 this weekend, I wanted know what all of you think about them? I thought it'd be cool to buy an older 440 and have it properly set up and surprise people by how fast a 440 can be when set up, any info or set up ideas would be helpful
If I remember correctly, these ZL 440's had the same motor as the '97 ZR 440. Them ZR 440 engines woke up when u added Black Magic exhaust system and aftermarket reeds and clutch kit.

It comes down to the entire suspension (front/rear). The Sno Pro is just as equal as the RR

Today's equivalent would be the new ZR 4000RR sled. Though not as much HP as the older ZR 440 Sno Pro, but just as fun, reliable and very trailable. Or you can bump up the ZR 6000 Sno Pro or RR version.
